Infants Book Character Parade

Our Infants children embraced their love of books at last week’s Infants Book Character Parade. It was a delight to watch them arrive in full costume, dressed as their favourite story book characters. The costumes were indeed works of art. Our parent community did an exceptional job in helping to design and make the elaborate costumes.

Although it was a wet day, the children stayed warm and dry indoors with each year group parading to parents and friends in the hall, under the skillful guidance of Mrs Lean, presenting an array of colour, creativity and sparkle. Alice in Wonderland, Angelina Ballerina and Peter Rabbit walked beside Stickman, Bin Chicken and even an amazing Tornado! There were some impressive spiders, jelly fish and cats, with Willy Wonka, the Hungry Caterpillar and the Gingerbread Man also making appearances. Each class brought their book characters to life, and the excitement and joy of the children certainly created its own sunshine and lifted hearts.

Our panel of judges, Mrs Finch, Mrs Orrock, Mrs Cox and Mrs Steinwede, had the difficult task of picking the prize winners. Our Principal, Mr Honor, accompanied by his three delightful grandchildren to the event, announced the winners and lucky dip prizes with the assistance of Mrs Wadds.

Mr Honor spoke of the importance of words and the gift of storytelling and reminded us of the beauty and light that is found in God’s Word. A love of books has many benefits and brings lifelong joy. Books are an endless source of fun, learning and adventure.

Thank you to our wonderful students, parents and families, and staff for making Infants Book Character Day such a memorable event.
