A Creative Life
St George Christian School provides students with the opportunity to explore the spectrum of creative arts.
Infants students engage in music lessons with a specialist music teacher whilst speech and drama lessons are offered onsite during school hours by a specialist educator. Annual performances including the Infants Concert, Father’s Day Service, Open Day recitals are an integral part of our students’ education. The skills learnt through singing, drama and performance can improve a child’s abilities in areas such as confidence, self-discipline, problem-solving and social interactions.
Creative skills continued to be nurtured and explored in Junior and Middle School with programs in photography, drama, music and specialist interest groups. For Senior Students, our School provides strong and varied creative and performing arts programs in which they can develop their talents and if desired, build on this firm foundation to pursue a career in the arts.
Students studying visual arts have opportunities throughout the course of their study to prepare exhibitions for the School and the wider community. We also work collaboratively with community galleries to equip our students with exhibition experience. A strong program of attendance to art galleries, musical performance, theatre and arts workshops are at the core of our arts education across the curriculum.
Musicals also give students the opportunity to enhance their performing experience. Students involved in our bi-annual musical productions learn drama, technical production and event management skills.
Over recent years SGCS has produced and performed the following musicals:
2017: Joseph and the Technicolored Dreamcoat
2015: High School Musical
2013: Beauty and the Beast
2011: Back to the 80’s
2008: Singin’ in the Rain
2006: Seussical (based on the works of Dr Seuss
2002: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Our Junior School also produces a bi-annual musical production. These productions are often written by our talented team of teaching staff including the musical score and lyrics.
