To celebrate Mother’s Day, students in our Infants School welcomed their mothers and special friends to an afternoon of festivities on 8 May.
The celebrations began with a moving speech by Mr Honor, School Principal, about the constant love of a mother for her children. The festivities continued with everyone dancing the Hokey Pokey, followed by a Samba, aka SGCS-style-dance. It was a joy to witness the sea of smiles as our children and visitors danced across the playground.
After the excitement of dancing, our visitors were escorted by their children to the classrooms where they were regaled with songs and poems, and gifted with special handmade Mother’s Day gifts.
In Kindergarten, the children created eye-catching fascinators for their mums to wear on their heads, and played games together. Year 1 students and their mums, created pretty beaded bracelets, and were challenged by construction activities and games. Year 2 mothers were treated to a pampering party which included hand massages, nail stickers and having their hair styled and adorned with clips and ribbons. Photo booths were very popular, providing spontaneous photo opportunities for all, and lots of laughter. After enjoying time in the classrooms, everyone returned outside to enjoy a delicious chocolate coated ice cream together.
Thank you to all the mothers and special guests who joined us, and to our dedicated staff for bringing these special events to life. We hope every mother felt honoured, appreciated, and deeply loved.
