Moving Mountains

The sport of bouldering has surged in popularity since it made its Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, held in 2021.

During Term 1, our Year 10 Pass students have been introduced to the art of bouldering and rock climbing. Bouldering involves climbing artificial rock walls or formations, often without the use of ropes or harnesses.

Both sports are very intense, as they contort the body into unusual positions in order for the body to be propelled upward. Students have had to dig deep, drawing on their endurance, strength, and balance to complete the range of circuits at their local Climb Fit studio in Kirrawee.

Mrs Aya Reynolds, SGCS PDHPE Teacher said:

Both Bouldering and rock climbing help our PASS students become more aware of their body and how it moves. Some students are surprised by their own body’s strength and what it is capable of. As a teacher, it is so exciting to foster these moments of self-discovery for our students.
