Stories of ANZAC Day

During the first week of Term, the Junior School Library lessons focused on ANZAC Day. Students enjoyed a storytelling session with the following books:

  1. Anzac Girl: The War Diaries of Alice Ross-King by Kate Simpson and illustrated by Jess Racklyeft which is based on the true story of Anzac girl Sister Alice Ross-King, who sailed to war in December 1914 and became the most decorated woman in Australia.
  2. ANZAC Biscuits by Phil Cummings and illustrated by Owen Swan, a picture book about the impact of the war told by a mother to her daughter whilst baking ANZAC biscuits.

After the storytelling session, the students had the opportunity to read, borrow books and view the Library’s ANZAC display before enjoying a home baked ANZAC biscuit.
