Mulga Visits SGCS

Years 7 and 8 Visual Arts students had a very bright day with the artist Mulga. Mulga (aka Joel Moore), a Sydney based artist, freelance illustrator and poet who paints murals, designs t-shirts and runs the Mulga brand. After working in finance for a decade, Mulga made the move to become a full-time artist. He has worked with companies like Adidas, Coca-Cola, Samsung and Toyota. During the incursion, Mulga presented his back story and encouraged our students to follow their passion. Afterwards, he took the students through the steps of creating his iconic gorilla face. The students added their own embellishments, colour and patterns, using posca paint pens, to create their own unique artwork.

Mrs Rachel Villareal, Visual Arts Teacher, said: The incursion helped our students understand that it is possible to follow your dreams and make your passion into a financially viable career.  The students were so energised by Mulga. It was an incredibly fun and inspirational day.

Our deepest thanks to Mulga for his generosity and time.
