HSC and Careers Expo

In early June, Year 11 attended the HSC and Careers Expo at the Royal Randwick Racecourse. The students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from universities, TAFE colleges, training providers as well as organisations providing apprenticeships.

There were also seminars on HSC subjects and post-school opportunities.

Francine M. and Maya T. (Year 11) have provided a summary of this very helpful event:

The HSC and Careers Expo was such a great opportunity for young adults who are close to finishing school. With many varieties of universities and TAFE courses represented.  The people there were lovely to talk to and were willing to answer any questions. Each exhibitor’s stand has free pamphlets and booklets with information about University and TAFE options. One hour was plenty of time to walk around and find all the information you needed. The HSC and Careers Expo is a great opportunity and wouldn’t want to be missed. Francine M.

The HSC and Careers Expo was an amazing opportunity which provided insight in the way we think about our future beyond school. The number of different of opportunities and subjects offered in university and TAFE was eye opening. We were provided with information booklets from each university which detailed the courses and degrees available. It was quite helpful having current enrolled university and TAFE students talk to us and answer our questions. They also gave us a perspective of what life is all about when studying at university and TAFE and assisted us with matching our passions with the courses available. Overall, it was an incredible educational experience. It was really helpful to hear from the students and to get an understanding and feeling of how it all works first-hand. I found this quite beneficial as it will help me take the next step and assist with making decisions after graduating.  Maya T.
