Harmony Day

Harmony Day truly encompassed what it meant to appreciate culture and difference within our incredibly diverse school community.

The Community Team comprising of our Senior School Ambassadors and Prefects created an appreciative environment for the entire Senior School to recognise cultures from all over the world.

The Ambassador-led Assembly outlined the educational aspects of Harmony Day and what it means to be appreciative of those different to ourselves. Harmony Day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. We learnt how it’s about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Our Ambassadors spoke about the importance of recognising school diversity, and acknowledging the founders of the land in which we stand. As a School, this day was not only a celebration but a reflection on Australia’s history, recognising the Bidjigal land in which our School stands. Throughout the celebrations, the joy of bringing people together was evident through the high participation of students in dressing up in cultural garment, games and Olympic-themed sports.

Middle School students also joined in on the celebrations by drawing different flags all around the world and decorating Middle School classrooms, in celebration of this unity Australia offers.

The day was not only about celebrating different cultures, we also acknowledged and prayed for those experiencing hardships throughout the world and fundraised to aid the Red Cross Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Appeal.

As the day drew o a close, we acknowledge the Christian aspect of Harmony Day: brothers and sisters all gathered in faith as we celebrate the difference and individuality God has given each and every one of us. For Jesus for coming in grace for salvation for all people throughout the world. We give thanks for His mercy and love.

Harmony Day was truly a memorable, fun, and educational day, and an apt end to Term 1 as we break for Easter.
