CSSA State Swimming Carnival 2023

On Tuesday 28 March, 18 students from SGCS travelled to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre for the Christian Schools Sports Association State Swimming Championships. Our students progressed through to this level by finishing in the top 3 positions of their events at the South Met Zone Swimming Carnival.

All our swimmers participated to the best of their ability throughout the day, with a number of students swimming personal best times. Our swim team included:

Year 7: Eveleigh C., Josiah C., Charles C., Elliott L., Alexander M., and Imogen M.l
Year 8: Kobe F. and Neave N.
Year 9: Nastasja B., Adam L., and Lucas Z.
Year 10: Daniel B., Lucy C., Keasi D., Tyra F., Edward L., Keira N., and Jonah S.

Special thanks to Aiden Mitchell who volunteered to help run the Championships.

Congratulations to all of swimmers on their outstanding efforts, in particular Charles C. (Year 7) and Keira N. (Year 10) who qualified to swim at the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) State Swimming Championships.

Charles qualified for three events as he finished 1st in the 12 Years Boys 50m Breaststroke and 2nd in the 12 Years Boys 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke.

Keira qualified for five events as she finished 2nd in the 16 Year Girls 50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Backstroke and 3rd in the 16 Years Girls 100m Freestyle.

We look forward to seeing how they go at the CIS State Championships.
