Roald Dahl is quoted as saying: “If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books.” His insightful words remind us of the importance of reading and its integral role in a child’s education.
This term, Year 3 students have been studying The BFG (short for The Big Friendly Giant) by Roald Dahl. To celebrate the end of the unit, the students will take part in a BFG Day on the final day of Term 3. BFG Day will be filled with a range of activities including watching Disney’s movie, The BFG, eating popcorn and, of course, drinking frobbscottle!
In the lead up to BFG Day, our Principal, Mr Honor, visited Year 3 and read a chapter to them from the book. The children were delighted to listen to Mr Honor’s entertaining storytelling and impersonation of some of their favourite characters. Watching the joyful faces of the children as they listened was a reminder of the excitement and adventure that books can bring to our lives.
