In readiness for the upcoming HSC exams, our Year 12 Mathematics Standard students recently welcomed Mr Stuart Palmer, lead author of the Cambridge Mathematics NSW Years 7 – 10 textbook series, to conduct a HSC Mathematics incursion.
Mr Palmer is a high school mathematics teacher with more than 25 years’ experience teaching students from all walks of life in a variety of schools. He has been a head of department in two schools and is now an educational consultant who conducts professional development workshops for teachers all over NSW and beyond. He also works with pre-service teachers at The University of Sydney. It is because of his influence that the Mathematics HSC exams now provide students with formula sheets.
A fun fact about Mr Palmer is that he taught mathematics to Mr Stavropoulos and Mr He while they studied at The University of Sydney.
Year 12 students were taught about the “Top 25 things to do” for success in the Mathematics Standard HSC exam.
Our School Captain, Sophie Cox, found the incursion very helpful and commented:
Our mathematics incursion was incredibly helpful in preparing for the HSC, with Mr Palmer’s wealth of knowledge and expertise, and his large stockpile of all the mathematics resources we could possibly need in order to study effectively for our exams.
