Celebrating IWD

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Anabelle Liew, School Captain and Joy Savegh, Year 12 Community Prefect, accompanied Mrs Gray to an International Women’s Day breakfast hosted by George’s River Council.

The breakfast brought together influential and significant female community advocates for an inspiring morning of sharing stories and wisdom. The audience heard from Senior Constable Sonia Krcalovic from St George PAC, Jada Mundine, NSW DPIE Senior Project Officer and Sharlene McKenzie OAM, Allawaw Managing Director.

Mrs Gray said:

It was a wonderful opportunity to hear from and network with many local women who have persevered through heartache, trauma and financial hardship and been strengthened from their experiences of adversity and given back to their communities. Anabelle and Joy both were able to ask of the speakers their advice as young women entering the workforce and striving for equity as they do so. In doing so, also, our student leaders were able to begin a dialogue with local organisations that support First Nations peoples specifically as well as victims of homelessness and domestic violence. We are incredibly proud of the young women at SGCS and are so thankful for the contributions of women in this school community.
