On the back of his extraordinary accomplishments at the recent Armidale Eisteddfod and Fanfare competition, Andrew D. (Year 7) competed in the Wollongong Piano Eisteddfod on the June long weekend and won 2nd place in the 12 years and Under Category for Junior Piano Championship, Sonata Piano Solo and Piano Solo.
On Friday 18 June, Andrew returned to Wollongong to compete in the Wollongong Violin Eisteddfod. He competed in four Championships in the 12 Years and Under Category. Andrew finished on the podium in each event, winning 1st prize in the Junior Strings Championship, the Restricted Strings Solo Championship and the Strings Solo Championship. Andrew also came 2nd in the Baroque Strings Solo Championship.
One of the highlights of the Wollongong Violin Eisteddfod was when Andrew performed his own composition “The Lost” in the Restricted Strings Solo Championship. He also produced a stunning performance on “Children’s Chamber II” by Elena Kats-Chernin in the Junior Strings Championship.
Once again, congratulations to Andrew for his outstanding achievements.
