Welcome the King

Any concert commencing with a message from the Prime Minister of Australia creates high expectations. Our annual Infants Christmas Concert certainly lived up to the hype.

The theme of the Concert explored the true meaning of Christmas. Is it about presents, decorations, food, shopping, holidays or parties?

Each of these concepts were delightfully presented through dance and drama.

Cuddly bears, marching grenadiers, twirling ballerinas, robots, living dolls and a variety of soft toys danced their way through “I got that sunshine in my pocket”. The audience was soon clapping and tapping along.

A slow-motion enactment of the shopping day sales presented a fresh take on materialism and showcased some very convincing acting by both our young shoppers and “security guards”. Year 2 presented a very glamourous 1920s dance and drama routine, and Year 1 took the audience on a road trip to celebrate the holidays.

The joyful frenzy and excitement of all the performances, reminiscent of the actual lead-up to Christmas, dissipated as the students took to the stage to sing Noel. As the children lifted their voices, spirits quietened with the reminder that the King has come. Emmanuel is with us.

May you have time amidst the busyness of this Christmas to sit at the feet of Christ and feel His peace.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
