Year 3 students took a step back in time when they embarked on a walking tour of Hurstville as part of their local history studies.
The Hurstville Historic Museum and Gallery was their first stop on the tour. The students explored the vast collection of photographs, maps, ephemeral resources and artefacts to gain an understanding of the history of the area.
The walking tour took in 19th Century terrace houses, churches, pharmacies and other historical buildings that reveal the rich history of the area in which we live and study.
this hands-on experience, students were able to appreciate how much the area
had changed over time and how the coming of the railway to the suburb of
Hurstville, brought about the most rapid change in its entire history.
