Last Wednesday was the presentation night for the RoboCup Junior Spike Prime Competition. This was a virtual competition with a video and learning journal submission. The competition brief asked students to role play as an engineer in a top robotics laboratory and develop and build a new robot. Competitors were required to research the theme of Journey and create a robot in line with the theme using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime set.
SGCS entered four teams which were comprised of Year 6 students. We are pleased to report that all four teams placed in the top 10 for New South Wales with Team G.E.T winning a Highly Commended Award. It was an outstanding effort, as despite many teams entering the competition, only forty completed the challenge and of those forty, four were SGCS teams.
Our teams were:
- 6th place: and Highly Commended: Team G.E.T. – Georgia, Emily and Tahlia
- 8th place: Roverbot – Thomas, Stanley and Edward
- 9th place: Clownfish – Elise, Dania and Grace P
- 10th place: Team G.S.K. – Gloria, Serena and Kori
Congratulations to these students and Mrs Binns, Robotics Coordinator.
