It is always a fascinating experience to hear an author read their work aloud.
Our Infants students recently enjoyed this privilege when noted writer, Lisa Shanahan visited our Sans Souci Campus to present a series of engaging writing and reading seminars.
Mrs Bronwyn Steinwede, Infants Librarian, said:
We have been enjoying reading Lisa Shanahan’s books from the Library’s collection, all term. Her presentation was very entertaining. She shared many stories with us from her childhood and talked about different places to find ideas for stories. Later she discussed the book publishing process, and although our students are still very young, they found it fascinating and asked lots of questions.
Lisa encouraged the children to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and to record their observations in a journal. The children and staff were inspired to keep writing and drawing as these skills take perseverance, resilience and effort but are so worthwhile as they allow us to capture thoughts from our imaginations on paper.
