The Drama Toolbox

Year 1 students took part in a drama incursion in the lead up to NAIDOC Week. The incursion, by the company The Drama Toolbox, brought to life the Aboriginal Dreamtime story of Tiddalick the Frog. This story was adapted into a book by Robert Roennfeldt in 1980 and explores issues of water management, sharing resources and greed.

The incursion was an immersive one, with the children dressed-up as Australian Fauna to re-enact the story. Emus, Frill Necked Lizards, Wombats, Koalas, Kangaroos, Cockatoos and Kookaburras were just some of the animals featured in the performance. The students presented a lively performance complete with background music and colourful props under the direction from the Drama instructor.

It was a joyous experience; one they will remember for many years to come.
