Still Life

French artist, Henri Matisse was one of the great masters of still life in 20th century art. Despite living through incredibly turbulent times, his works focussed on the interior, and featured bold, bright colours, full of hope and joy.

Our Visual Arts Teachers created a wonderful tribute to Matisse by arranging greenery, fabric, flowers, and fish. Students took a photo of the arrangement from their chosen angle, then sketched a still life onto canvas.

Anticipation is high for the finished works. However, with the beginnings of paint applied only this week we will have to wait a little longer to see the Year 7 students’ masterpieces.
