Just prior to the polar vortex that hit Sydney, chilly weather created ideal snow conditions for our Year 9 and Year 10 PASS students. Forty-two students attended a three-day camp as part of their studies into Lifestyle, Leisure and Recreation and Promoting Active Lifestyles.
The students stayed in Jindbyne but had the opportunity to snowboard and ski in Thredbo.
Mr Steve Moore, PDHPE Coordinator, who led the expedition said:
It was a fantastic camp! I love going to the snow with our students especially the ones who have never seen snow before. Seeing the excitement in their eyes is an awesome and rewarding experience.
Skiing and snowboarding are difficult skills to master. However this group of students picked it up so quickly, it was impressive!
Whilst I would have liked another day on camp for the students to practice their newfound skills and consolidate their learning, I feel that we really made the most of our time at the snow.
