SGCS has close to a dozen robotic teams competing in the RoboCup Junior NSW 2022 LEGO® Education SPIKE Prime Challenge. The teams are made up of students from Year 6 to Year 9. For many of the Year 6 students, it is their first RoboCup competition.
Students explore the field of STEM and robotics using the LEGO® EducationSPIKE Prime robot kit to design a robot that can take people on a journey. The journey could include travelling to the depths of the ocean, to the planets in the sky, or even through time. Working in teams, students will research, design, and build a prototype of a robot and write a program that enables it to be autonomous. The students are also required to produce a video of their robot in action for submission to a panel of judges.
Our students have come up with a range of interesting robots including those based on crabs, birds, vehicles, and a rabbit.
