With the summer holidays just around the corner now is the time to get out on the water.
Year 11 PDHPE students recently embraced the warm weather for a day of paddleboarding on the Port Hacking River at Gunnamatta Bay. The day commenced with leadership games where students had to adapt to various challenges and overcome problems.
Whilst some of the students were experienced in stand up paddleboarding (SUP), others had never tried it.
SUP requires a great deal of coordination as you work your lower and upper body together to enable you to stand and paddle at the same time. Several of our students who had previously tried other water sports like kayaking, surfing or surf-skiing observed that paddleboarding offers an entirely different perspective of the environment as by standing you are much higher from the waterline.
