Animation is a familiar concept to most young children as they are exposed to it through a variety of mediums including social media, television, apps, movies and video games. This familiarity with animation was recently harnessed, by our Year 4 students, helping them bring their own characters to life as part of our annual Animation Day.
Working together in small groups, the students acquired skills in storyboarding, set design, character development, model making, filming and editing before burning their movie on to a DVD. Back in the classroom, they worked on developing their post-production skills by sourcing music and incorporating it into their movie, to create mood.
The theme for the day was open-ended, allowing the students’ imaginations to soar.
