Making an Entrance

Our Year 11 Industrial Technology Timber students are presently working on creating a hallway table for the entrance of their homes.

The scope of the project allowed freedom of design as long as students adhered to fixed dimensions established by their Teacher, Mr Matt Cocking. Students had the option of working with the timbers, New Zealand Beech, or Jarrah, or a combination of both.

There was still plenty of creative freedom within these guidelines for students to incorporate their own personal touches, like different joinery and design features like tapered legs, inlays, curved bracing and clean lines. Judging by the quality of work on show, the new entrance pieces for their homes will make a grand impression.

The project serves as a pilot for the students to test their practical and theoretical abilities before they commence their Year 12 studies and Major Work.
