SGCS entered an Open Boys competitive team for the 2022 CIS Football Cup. This competition is a knockout competition. Training was initially hampered by persistent rain earlier this month, but the new Terrace Building Basketball Court provided a good alternative for training, and we began forming connections and combinations.

In Round 1, the SGCS Team play Toongabbie Christian College.

Despite this round being our first ‘hit out’ on a full-size pitch and weekend football still in the off-season, the team worked tirelessly and came away with a strong 1-0 win. The players were all exhausted but also encouraged by the result.

Beautiful weather and near perfect playing conditions welcomed us to Round 2 in sunny Western Sydney.  The boys came up against a strong and professional outfit in Mamre Anglican School. After a competitive first half, some injuries decimated our bench, and the opposition took control of the match to win.

Mr Joel Garlato, Coach, said:

I am proud of the boy’s efforts and the spirit in which they played football. They played with pride and fought diligently. I look forward to taking them to the upcoming CSSA Gala Day where they can build on the combinations made in the CIS competition. Well done boys!
