During the period where school was operating remotely, our Visual Arts Department devised several “at home” art activities for students.
Year 10 Visual Arts students were each delivered an art pack containing glue, paint, ink and gesso.
The students were required to create a sculptural piece of a household member that reflected their identity.
The sculptural pieces used the same format as works by South African artist, William Kentridge in his exhibition “That which we do not remember.” During 2019, the students attended his exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Using cardboard, items from the art pack and words sourced from print media, the students created powerful, intimate 3D portraits.
These sculptural pieces are now on display in the Visual Arts Room until the end of term.
