Hair Raising Day for Charity

Senior School ended the month of May with a hair-raising event for the Cancer Council.

Eight students took the brave step of shaving their locks in winter to raise funds for cancer research. The remainder of the cohort donated a gold coin for wearing winter mufti attire.

Gerald Selvaraj (10M) initiated the idea for the fund-raiser after losing his Scout leader to cancer. Gerald wanted to acknowledge his passing and raise awareness of the disease. Gerald was supported in running the event by the Year 12 Community Prefects, Kali Evans, Isaac Hansen, Brooklyn Harrison and Zoe Yung.  This collaborative effort by students across several year groups saw more than $7000 raised for cancer research.

Gerald Selvaraj not only initiated the fund-raising event, he also set an example for other students by shaving his hair.
