Feathered Friends

Can you name the 4 life cycles of a chicken? Our Kindergarten children can!

Recently our youngest students participated in a two-week program on the life cycle of the chicken. The company CuteAsHatchings supplied a dozen eggs and two incubators. Over the course of the program the students learnt about the chicken’s distinct life phases – egg, embryo, hatchling, chick and chicken.

The students eagerly awaited the chicks to hatch, then learnt how to care for them and handle them properly. It was a wonderful experience for the children, especially for those who don’t own a pet or have yet to experience life on a farm.

After two weeks of sharing their classroom with their feathered friends, the students bid farewell as the chicks return to life on the farm.
