Farewell to Mrs Cottam

On the last week of Term, we bid farewell to one of our longest serving teachers, Mrs Vanessa Cottam. Mrs Cottam is leaving SGCS after 35 years of service to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Mr Honor, Principal and Mrs Nicole Finch, Head of Junior School praised Mrs Cottam for her dedication saying:

Mrs Cottam has served our students and families with joy, creativity and vigour. Her contributions have been extensive – from the support program, in the classroom, to drama and performance. Known for her encouragement, kindness, care, fun and godliness, she has left her mark on the hearts of so many students. We will all miss the joy and enthusiasm that Mrs Cottam brings to the School.

A special Junior School Assembly was held in honour of Mrs Cottam, paying tribute to her through poetry written by the children, songs, dancing and prayer and special items by the Junior School staff. The Assembly was very moving whilst full of joyous, funny moments. The audience of Years 3-6 were colourfully dressed in costumes from Musicals that Mrs Cottam had created over the years. In a special surprise tribute, Mr Archer called Mrs Cottam onto the stage to present her with a large number of Merit Awards recognizing her qualities, attributes and skills that staff and students appreciated most.  Mr Honor read a poem and concluded the Assembly in prayer and blessing.

Thank you Mrs Cottam we will miss you.
