Child Composer Wins Prize

In these extraordinary times, a good news story about a young boy pursuing his dreams is heartening to all.

Andrew D. (Year 6) is already a talented violinist at the tender age of eleven. Recently he submitted his own composition The Weather, Opus 5 (for violin and string quartet) to the Concours International De Composition “Artistes En Herbe” 2020 Luxembourg (International Composition Compettion – Aspiring Artists, 2020 Luxemburg). Andrew was awarded the Special Prize of the Founder and President for his work.

The competition is unique in Western Europe, as children from 11 years of age are admitted in the Junior category. (There are three age categories). In total 223 musical works from 34 countries were submitted to the judges for this year’s competition.

His Mother, Clara informed SGCS that ‘Andrew is happy and very encouraged by the outcome of his first international composition competition’.

We are all pretty impressed too. Congratulations Andrew, your future looks bright.
