The local heats for the Interschool Chess Challenge took place online this week.

Thirteen SGCS students, from Year 6 to Year 8, took up the challenge and spent the morning outmanoeuvring their opponents. Their efforts secured SGCS a place in the semi-finals. Our four highest ranked students will have the opportunity to represent SGCS.

These students are: Roger H., Edmond C. and George Y. (Year 8) and Ethan C. (Year 6).

Congratulations on a great performance. We wish you every success for the next competition.

These students are also part of the SGCS Chess Club that runs each Monday in the library. The friendly competition is open to any other students who would like to learn to play the game or compete with skilled peers.

The Interschool Chess Challenge is coordinated by the Sydney Academy of Chess and is endorsed by the New South Wales Junior Chess League.
