Congratulations to Lyric McDougall (Year 10) for her selection to the Australian Olympic Change Maker Program. The Australian Olympic Change-Maker program recognises and rewards students who demonstrate the Olympic spirit through leadership and driving positive change in their communities.
Mrs Karen Binns, SGCS IT Teacher/Integrator said:
The program aimed to identify young people who effect positive culture and change. I nominated Lyric as not only has she represented Australia at two World Championships and has been successful in the sport both competitively and within service to the Heart Foundation, she is also a person who effects the culture of our team through her actions and participation, one who demonstrates kindness, openness, and a desire to share her vision and passion with others.
With the acceptance of the nomination, Lyric participated in the inaugural Australian Olympic Change-Maker Virtual Summit held on 17 September 2020.
The event hosted by Olympic Champion, Brooke Hanson OAM (Swimming – Gold and Silver Medallist, Athens 2004), celebrated each young leader nominated for this year’s Award and featured Olympians discussing leadership, being a positive force and overcoming challenges in creating change.
