Although it is a little past Bastille Day, our Year 9 Elective Food Technology students couldn’t resist the opportunity to whip up a little French cuisine as part of their Food for Special Occasions unit.
Who could blame them with chocolate eclairs, egg custard and French onion soup on the menu. Last week the students celebrated Octoberfest by making the ever-popular salted pretzel.

Food is such an important component of cultural celebrations. This unit of study enables students to explore the relationship between food and culture and also gain practical experience in preparing and handling food. It is designed to extend the students by enabling them to create a dish that they may not have cooked before.
