Camaraderie through Adventure

Cold and wet weather couldn’t dampen our students’ enthusiasm for a day of outdoor learning and team-building at Stanwell Tops.

Our team-building day is designed to foster a sense of belonging and support and encourage students to get to know one another in a relaxed environment. It helps to create a smooth transition into Year 7.

Students were placed into four groups, participating in either Abseiling, Goliath Swing, Leap of Faith or Treeline Adventure.

Miss Demi Lucas, Year 7 Home Room Teacher reported:

The students had a great day at the Tops! I was with the Treeline Adventure group and it was wonderful seeing students have a go at the course, even if they were afraid of heights and were apprehensive about the challenge ahead. Their willingness to take risks and get out of their comfort zone showed a determination and resilience that will be incredibly beneficial to them as they journey through high school.

For the Survivor activity, students were divided into two tribes and completed a range of activities that tested their physical abilities and problem-solving skills. Students had to work well with their team, ensuring they were communicating effectively, as well as encouraging and supporting their teammates in order to successfully complete each challenge. It was fantastic watching the students come together to achieve a common goal and have fun along the way. Overall I think the day was a great opportunity for students to bond with each other and with their teachers, as well as building some joyful first memories of their time in high school.
