Our Year 12 Class of 2018 Visual Arts students, Matisse Whyte and Claire Bryan-Ellis received some very good news prior to their HSC exams. Their major works have been selected to feature in the HSC Art Rules Exhibition at Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Gymea!
The Exhibition will feature a select number of Year 12 major works by students of schools within the St George regions and Sutherland Shire.
Claire’s work titled Second Chance was composed of a series of works using a variety of mediums in different scales. Her work reflected on the power of regeneration within nature and the restorative powers of nature for mankind.
Matisse created a series of large scale watercolours that explored the intertwining relationship of the human figure and nature. Her work titled Matisse’s Garden was influenced by artist Del Kathryn Barton’s use of vibrant colour palettes and surrealism. Artist Joshua Yeldham was also a key influence.
Congratulation Claire and Matisse, we look forward to seeing your works in the public domain.
Congratulations also to their Visual Arts Teacher, Mrs Louisa Cunningham.
