Year 5 students have been learning about public speaking, an essential skill that improves communication and organisational competency, increases self-confidence, and helps students express their ideas.
As part of the learning program, Year 5 students read aloud to Year 3 students. This simple activity helped the older students practice their public speaking by engaging an audience through reading. It was lovely to walk-by and see the students sitting in the sunshine, enjoying each other’s company over a book. It also allowed our younger students to see what being a proficient reader looks like, through the reading skills demonstrated by Year 5.
