Our Year 11 students had a comprehensive Visual Arts program mapped out for them in 2020: a cultural tour of Europe, an art residency at Bundanon, local gallery visits and artist workshops on campus. The COVID-19 pandemic forced a change of course and instead our Year 11 students explored 21 Centuries of artmaking from the convenience of their classroom and online learning.
They have been prolific in creating art and this week the culmination of their creativity, insights and resilience in these unprecedented times, was installed at the Georges River Council, Clive James Library and Service Centre Art Space at Kogarah.
The aptly titled Exhibition, Absence Makes the Art Grow Fonder, features over 56 art works including sculptures, paintings, drawings, collages and collaborative works. Year 10 art works which they produced whilst learning from home are also featured.
The Exhibition is open to the public during Library hours until 4 December 2020.
