Textiles, as a means of expression, offers a rich and diverse method of producing 3D works of art.
Our Year 9 Elective Textiles Technology students recently completed a unit of study on textile art which culminated in the completion of an artwork.
The students were required to select a form from nature and create a work, inspired by their favourite Textile Artist. Contemporary Textiles Artists like Mandy Pattullo, Carol Walker and Bill Zangewa proved to be strong influences.
The students worked different fabrics and materials into a 580mm square canvas using a range of methods like embroidery, tie-dying, quilting, felting and painting. Their topics were varied and included the ocean, bees, landscape, flowers and water.
These beautiful 3D works, so expertly crafted, are on display in the Library until Week 7.
