This week, parents were welcomed onto the Hurstville Campus to hear their child’s band performance. Although senior members of the band were unable to participate due to exams, the younger members put in a fine performance.
It was such a treat to hear live music again and it made the audience realise how much we have missed performances due to the pandemic.
The students played a range of pieces including Afterburn by Randall D. Standridge, which captured the emotions of a flight in a supercharged jet and the Arrowhead Overture by artist The Washington Winds. Their rendition of My Shot took the audience back to when the musical Hamilton played in Sydney.
If this is what our band is capable of with reduced numbers, we can’t wait to hear them in their entirety at this year’s Evening of Fine Music.
