Students Shine at Gold Coast Games

During May, eight of our students travelled to the Gold Coast to represent New South Wales in the 2013 National Christian School Games.

Jai Thomas (Basketball) was one of the youngest players in the Open Team and went on to be selected for the Merit Team due to his exceptional performance on the court.

Joseph Lewis (Athletics and Swimming) was initially selected to represent NSW for relay. However a week before the Games he was asked to fill in for an additional 3 swimming and 2 athletic events.  He came away with a 2nd in the 3000m and 4th in the 1500m for Athletics and 2nd in the 4x50m Freestyle relay, 4th in the 40m Freestyle and 5th in the 50m Butterfly. Joseph was also recognised for his behaviour and character. The swim team managers selected Joseph as the swim team captain to lead the team due to his caring attitude towards the younger swimmers and those students with a disability.

Kurt Stavrou and Joshua Tasevski (Under 15 Boys Soccer) and Nicola and Rebecca Leech (Under 15 Girls Soccer) all played extremely well. Their respective NSW teams remained undefeated throughout the competition and both teams won their respective grand finals.

Peter Binns (16 years Swimming) is one of our School’s highly regarded swimmers. His exceptional sporting ability earned him 1st in the 4x50m relay, 1st in the 4x50m Medley relay, 2nd in the 50m Backstroke, 3rd in the 50m Butterfly and 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke.

Congratulations to these students on representing our School and State with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
