Students launch Heart Week with a jump at the NRL

The SGCS Jump Rope Team helped launch Heart Week with a performance at the pre-match rugby league game between the Dragons and Manly on May 6.  The team comprising thirty-three students performed to a crowd of nearly 12000 people. Performing live to a large audience was an exciting challenge which the students relished.

SGCS has been involved with the Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart since 1986, with a School Jump Rope Demonstration Team operating since 1989. The program involves fun physical activities, while learning about healthy living and raising vital funds to support the fight against cardiovascular disease. In 2012 our students attended the State and National titles as well as venturing to the Riverina to showcase their skipping skills.

In 2013 our Jump Rope Demonstration Team will tour the Bega region to perform to schools in the area.
