Skipping to Success

This year SGCS earned over fifty medals at the State Skipping Championships held at Olympic Park on the weekend of 5-6 August 2017.

Mrs Karen Binns, SGCS Jump Rope Coordinator reports:

Our 36 skippers represented our School with enthusiasm and determination. I was very proud of our skippers some of who performed some spectacular freestyle routines. We have a very strong and committed skipping community at our School that is well supported by both parents and past students who return to coach our younger skippers.

Thank you to all parents who carried out their duties of judging, marshalling, assisting judges, braiding hair and keeping up morale so well. The competition could not work with your assistance. Special thank you to Jessica Payne who not only coached but stood in for our injured skippers and demonstrated her great speed style. Also to Jesse Yeung Year 7, Keira Gatenby Year 9, Rachel Norman, Kris McDougall and Michelle Rigby for all your ongoing assistance with coaching and legwork.

We are now in the process of refining our routines for the National Skipping Championships that will be held on the Gold Coast on September 16-18, 2017
