Paper Plates

We use paper for so many things like writing, printing, packaging, cleaning and building. But have you ever thought about how it is made?

Year 12 Visual Arts students were recently introduced to the glorious, messy art of papermaking as part of their studies for their HSC major works.

Using recycled scraps of paper and plant fibres, the students explored basic pulp paper making techniques including pulp production, forming, couching and drying.

The end result saw the production of beautifully-finished handmade paper which will be used for printmaking, drawing and watercolour.
