Farewell Year 12 Class of 2018

On the final day of term our School community came together to formally farewell our Year 12 students and celebrate their thirteen years of schooling.

The Year 12 Presentation Ceremony started with a delightful procession of Infants students coming on to the stage to present a bible to the Year 12 students who have completed their entire schooling at SGCS. It was a very sweet moment as several of the students seemed reluctant to give up their gift.

The mood of the Ceremony continued with exuberance as the Year 12 cohort celebrated each awardee and presenter. The students were delighted to see the umbrellas that they decorated in Kindergarten appear on the screen which related to Mrs Carolyn Lee, Head of Senior School speech on the assurance we have in our great God and the protection He offers through life’s storms.

The School Captains Isabella Pfahlert and Joshua Madden shared some of the highlights of their journey and the lessons learnt. The importance of striving to improve rather that striving to be the best, and the importance of persevering in your faith, as it is everlasting. There was a deep sense of thankfulness for the people who have walked beside them, including their parents, family and friends, as well as their teachers and Year Advisers Mr Joel Garlato and Mrs Karen Lymn.

Mrs Karen Lymn’s words were full of honesty, wisdom and encouragement. Mr Joel Garlato’s final exhortations focused on the importance of honouring and learning from relationships as they have the power to shape and define us and are a blessing from God.

Our special thanks to Mr Mark Coure, Member for Oatley for attending our Year 12 Presentation Ceremony.

Our prayers and good wishes are for all the Year 12 students as they prepare to sit for the HSC.
