Farewell Year 12 Class of 2017

On the final day of term our School community came together to formally farewell our Year 12 students and celebrate their thirteen years of schooling.

The Year 12 Presentation Ceremony brings mixed emotions, pride in the students themselves, sadness in their leaving, and excitement for them as they take the step into the wide world.

The deep sense of camaraderie that is characteristic of this Year 12 cohort was on full display as they celebrated each awardee and presenter. Mr Honor encouraged the students to protect their love for Christ and others against all threats, as it is often the little things that can destroy the things of value.

The School Captains Caroline Edwards and Ben Meller, shared some of the highlights of their journey and the lessons learnt. They described the SGCS community as family and gave thanks for the opportunities offered during their schooling. There was a deep sense of thankfulness too for their Year Advisers, Mr Wilson and Mrs Young who have nurtured and supported them every step of the way. The deep affection that the students and teachers share was so evident that it moved many to tears.

Mr Wilson’s final exhortation to be strong and courageous and to fix your eyes on Jesus as there is no other way to live except in Christ, was a firm reminder for not only the students but the entire audience. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

Our prayers and good wishes are for all the Year 12 students as they prepare to sit for the HSC.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)
