Ending with Thanks

The Thanksgiving Service is a time where all SGCS staff come together to give thanks to God for the past year.

This year was especially poignant as we bade farewell to several long-term staff on their retirement. We also acknowledged the service and dedication of many long-term staff who continue at SGCS. Their expertise, knowledge, tireless service, humility and humour have greatly contributed to the making of SGCS. Several staff were also celebrated for their recent accreditation.

Prayers and songs of praise were led with great enthusiasm by the Junior School Staff. Our Thanksgiving Service wouldn’t be complete without a light number by the ladies of Cafe12. Their skit caused many in the audience to rethink the Christmas carol “Twelve Days of Christmas” and some may never view a mentos in quite the same way again.

Mr Honor spoke about the importance of acknowledging God for His countless blessings and directing our thanks to our creator God, rather than the cosmos, the created. In a world where the gratitude movement continues to grow, it is worth pondering the question as to whom should our thanks be ultimately directed to?

During the Thanksgiving Service, staff were encouraged to enjoy the season's celebrations and to embrace God's big resolution for the world that He loves so much.

For God loved the world so much that He gave his only Son
so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.
 John 3:16-17
