Sport is an integral part of Middle School’s educational program where we aim to expose students to a variety of sports and encourage ownership of lifelong participation in physical activity.

Students in Year 7 and 8 participate in Sports programs which focus on skill development in athletics, gymnastics, swimming, water polo, softball and tennis. Year 8 students also have the choice of participating in squash, soccer, cricket and touch football.

Weekly sports can include: AFL, athletics, boxercise, dance acrobatics, gymnastics, ice skating, indoor sports, netball, oz tag, pilates, rock climbing, soccer, softball, squash, swimming and volley ball.

Middle School students participate in annual sports carnivals for Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and our own SGCS House Day. Students are also given opportunities to attend gala days in a range of sports including basketball, futsal, hockey, rugby league, soccer and softball. These days foster a sense of School unity and provide opportunities for students who are gifted at sports to demonstrate and extend their skills, to compete against others and to be selected as school representatives at higher levels of competition.

‘Whilst we celebrate the sporting achievements of our students on an individual level and as a team, our main focus is to foster a lifelong commitment to sport and physical activity and develop a spirit of giving your best in every circumstance.’
