Back to the 80's Musical

SGCS celebrated their 30th anniversary with four brilliant performances of the musical Back to the 80s. For a few hours, our talented senior students transported the audience back into the world of The Rubik'c Cube, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars, proving that the clothes may be different but essentially the themes of growing up remain the same. The classic hits of the 80s like Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Video Killed the Radio Star, Love Shack and Mickey had the audience singing along and full of praise for the great cast, lively script, fabulous 80s set design and amazing band.

It was such a delight to lead this amazing team. To see students grow in confidence and build community, to work through last minute problems together and then step back and see it all come to life on stage was unforgettable. It is these moments that form memories for students and teachers, and these moments that make me immensely proud. I encourage the SGCS community to not only enjoy the glow of post-show highs, but also to stop and take a moment to realise that this was all done through the strength and power of God. It is He who blesses us with gifts of creativity, He who builds community, He who shows the ultimate example of love and He who leads us through it all. Praise God for this musical and the community He has blessed us with here at SGCS.    Miss Byrnes - Director
